The short answer: Hexagram 42, Yi, Increase, describes a deliberate transfer of resource downward, not a windfall from nowhere. Something above you has agreed to be less so that you, at the base, can be more. The favor is real, the source is not anonymous, and the window is for spending.

The figure is a yang line at the bottom, three yin lines above it, then two yang lines at the top: Sun, the wind, over Zhen, the thunder.
